ThinkOrSwim Application for Android

Diehard ThinkOrSwim fans will be unhappy to know that there is still no ThinkOrSwim application for the Android.

After emailing support they indicated sometime around March with no exact planned release date. I have seen no indication of anything coming out.

I am encouraging all Android users who want ThinkOrSwim to send them a email asking about it. It is really difficult to not have this trading ability for me.

I guess they want us to use the iPhone just like every other monkey.

  1. I emailed them a while back too and got the same response. Doesn't really make sense considering Android runs Java and so do all their other platforms, including mobile (except iPhone of course). Seems like porting it over wouldn't take that much time...

  3. I have emailed them a few times re: an android app. They first said it would be out in Q1, but now they say, "We do not yet have an ETA for the Droid application, though this is in the works and is expected to be made available in the next few months."

I really dont understand what the holdup is; I hear Android is easy to program for.

  5. Just got this email from Tos:
"The Android application is not out yet, but we are hoping it will be released next month. It will be available for download from www.thinkorswim.com"

    Fingers crossed...

  6. Maybe they are concerned about security and privacy,,, Google doesn't seem to be.

  7. I had a BB storm 1 and was advised over a year ago the application would be available in may of 2009. Well as far as i know its not available a year later.
Bottom line is Tom Sosnoff is a big fan of the iphone. If you want the application then its clear you will need 2 phones or go with ATT. Verizon users will not be able to use a mobile trading platform like iphone. I also wont hold my breath waiting for iphone on verizon. Its not going to happen.

I have the droid incredible, the web based platform works well, no charts, but you can trade. Much better than bb storm

Until Tom Sosnoff supports the HTC smartphones, there will never be any software.

    My 2 cents............

  8. Well, Android runs a fork of java called Dalvik + has it's own api's ... so it's not just as simple as a direct port or copy and run. Especially when it comes to the GUI, etc... But, nonetheless hopefully they will get this out asap!! I want it! I want it!

  10. update: I just emailed TOS and got the response, "you'll be happy to hear that the Droid App will be made available in the next few weeks."

I also requested a lower commission rate and got it dropped to $1.50/contract, which isn't great but much better than the standard and it will get dropped further a bit down the road once my account is all transferred over and the number of trades I place increases substantially.

  13. Yes, every month they say, oh it will be out the next couple of months, which doesn't mean squat. They've been saying that 6 months after G1. Thing is someone has to be trained on android programing, which is not really a priority for them. Lately, they seem to be having more problems with they're servers. Plainly the way they have been leading on their clients tells me that they are not very customer service oriented. Does anyone have and opinion on their customer service.

  14. We just did a quick video demo of the thinkorswim mobile APP for Android for those who don't have an Android phone but curious. http://ow.ly/18vCMT

It's pretty much like the iPhone thinkorswim app but the options chains and charting functions are a bit better
